American Politics and the Economy... allowing an election to nurse an ailing outlook back to recovery...

The fact is, by far the U.S. remains the world's largest and most influential economy. Even these days as negative trends persist to unfold in ways which, at the beginning of the decade, could easily have been deemed far-fetched. But the truth is, the country have carelessly allowed its susceptibility to be masked by the degree of taking certain economic realities for granted. Let's therefore be mindful that our economic leadership in the world has perhaps already started the taunted downward spiral... and will in fact continue to if we insist on refusing to acknowledge our very own misdeeds which have become just as major factors. We have become adept at staying financially complacent from individuals to institutions, federal legislation have allowed loopholes for abuse most notably by corporate hierarchies entrenched in a culture of greed, stopped being pro-active and innovative in the maintenance and building of public facilities infrastructure specially in the fields of energy and transportation, research and development initiatives have seen a decline with institutions being driven by callous incentives towards quick-profit schemes, then allowed ourselves to be embroiled in a war we could have righteously avoided to begin with. Shouldn't it now be time to stop and think that perhaps this is what the ulterior motive after all by those who seek to inflict turmoil among free societies... to sow seeds in the U.S. economic mentality with the sole purpose of disrupting strategic financial sectors to in-turn trigger the intended collapse? Are we in fact seeing it now with the sense of paralysis we now randomly face brought about by the seemingly uncontrollable sudden and dramatic fluctuations in fuel costs, the country's leading institutions in Freddie Mac and Maggie Mae facing government rescue, and now following... storied Wall Street institutions facing insolvency?

On the better side of things, we have time to reverse the unfavorable trend if only we let recent history be our guide.... the success with which we faced the challenge when we listened, and let a message of common sense prevail. And so this coming election, indeed, we are being called upon to once again be fairly reminded of a once used rather blunt but ever so effective reality check and internal political party catch-phrase... "It's the economy, stupid!"...
